Dree Hemingway Captures '60s Counter-Culture Chic

Dree Hemingway, daughter of Mariel Hemingway and great-granddaughter of legendary novelist Ernest Hemingway captures ’60s counter-culture spirit in a topless photo spread for Australian jewelry label, ManiaMania

Dree, 24, has been rising in fashion circles since she debuted on the catwalk in 2009 for Givenchy’s fall/winter 09-10 line in Paris, the city her great-grandfather immortalized in his memoirs “A Moveable Feast.”

Mom Mariel was also a model and actress. She married Stephen Crisman in 1984, and they had two daughters Dree and Langley Fox, who was born in 1989. They separated in 2008.

Dree, a five-foot, nine-inch, blue-eyed blonde, strongly resembles her mother. The New Yorker poses in several tasteful topless shots for the fashion line.

Photographer Stacey Mark captures Dree portraying a spiritual journey marked by a close affinity with nature. The jewelry line she reps is inspired by the counter-culture psychedelic movement of the ’60s and early ’70s.

Melanie Kamsler and Tamila Purvis who created the piece for ManiaMania, featuring symbols related to the zodiac, pagan and wicca rituals and the ancient art of alchemy.

The label is also using the shoot to mark its first foray into handbags. The leather relief detail work is complemented by tusk closures in fossil crystal stones and heavy metals.

“Some young designers have that golden touch. And, when it comes to the duo behind the aptly named Australian jewelry line ManiaMania, we mean that quite literally,” wrote The New York Times.
